The dining room does more than hold a table and chairs. In Bangladeshi homes today, it’s where families reconnect after long days, where guests are welcomed, and where the home’s personality really shows.
Getting it right matters. And it’s harder than it looks.
At Unique Interior & Design, we’ve worked on dining spaces across Dhaka — from tight apartment corners to full luxury dining rooms. Every project teaches us something new about how space, light, and material work together.
Here’s a look at our work.
Every client comes to us with a different room, a different lifestyle, and a different budget. So no two projects look the same.
Some projects are compact — an 80 sq. ft. apartment dining area that needs to feel open, functional, and well-finished. Others are full luxury builds with custom furniture, marble surfaces, and architectural lighting.
What stays the same is our process: measure the space, understand how the family uses it, plan the layout, select materials, and execute cleanly. No shortcuts.
Our dining room interior design work in Bangladesh covers modern minimalist styles, warm wood-toned family setups, and high-contrast luxury interiors. Each one is built around the client — not a template.
A dining room lives or dies on a few critical decisions. These are the ones we take seriously on every project.
Space Planning & Table Positioning The table has to breathe. We keep at least 90–100 cm of pull-out clearance on all active sides. In open-plan apartments, we define the dining zone using ceiling changes, rugs, or subtle partitions — not walls.
Lighting A pendant light over the dining table changes everything. We set it at 70–75 cm above the table surface and specify warm bulbs in the 2700K–3000K range. Where the budget allows, we add dimmers. Overhead downlights alone rarely create the right mood.
Materials We match materials to how the space will actually be used. Solid wood for warmth. Engineered marble for luxury. Tempered glass where the room needs visual lightness. High-pressure laminate for family spaces that need to handle daily wear.
Wall & Ceiling Design A well-treated focal wall behind the dining area adds depth without adding cost. False ceilings with cove lighting work especially well in Dhaka apartments — they add dimension even in rooms with standard 9–10 ft. heights.
Custom Furniture Standard furniture rarely fits perfectly. When it doesn’t, we design custom — dining tables, buffet units, display cabinets. Built for the room, not for a showroom.
We design for the actual room — with real measurements, real constraints, and real materials costed in from the start.
We also handle both design and execution. That matters more than it sounds. When a separate designer and contractor are involved, the design intent often gets lost between the drawing and the build. We keep it intact.
Our material sourcing balances quality with local availability. We don’t import everything just to sound premium. We use high-quality local finishes where they perform well, and bring in imported materials only where the design genuinely calls for it.
And before any project is handed over, we check finishing details — edges, joints, surface uniformity, lighting alignment. These don’t show up in photos. But they’re exactly what separates a professional build from an average one.
We cover space planning, furniture layout, material selection, lighting design, false ceiling, wall treatment, and custom furniture. For full-scope projects, we also manage procurement and site execution. One team handles everything — from the first sketch to the final handover.
We start by right-sizing the furniture. Oversized tables kill circulation in small rooms. From there, we use wall-mounted or storage-integrated units, vertical design elements to create a sense of height, and light-reflective materials to open up the space. A 70–80 sq. ft. dining room can look and feel generous with the right decisions.
It depends on the home and the family. Contemporary minimalist designs suit modern apartments well. Warm, wood-heavy interiors feel right in family homes. Luxury transitional styles — mixing classic furniture shapes with modern finishes — are increasingly popular in Dhaka's premium residential market.
Yes — and we do it regularly. Custom dining tables, chairs, buffet units, and display cabinets are a normal part of our project scope. We work with skilled local craftsmen using solid wood, MDF, plywood, and quality laminates based on the design and budget.
Most standalone dining room projects take 3–5 weeks from design sign-off to handover. Projects with custom furniture or specialty materials may take a little longer. We give clients a clear timeline at the proposal stage — no surprises.
