A girl’s bedroom is one of the most personal rooms in any home. It’s where she studies, rests, plays, and grows — and the design needs to work at all of those levels simultaneously. At Unique Interior & Design, girls bedroom interior design projects are always built around one person: the child or young woman who will actually live in the space.
Since 2015, we’ve completed girls’ bedroom projects across Dhaka’s apartments and residences — from compact rooms in mid-rise flats to larger bedrooms in duplex homes. Every project in this portfolio was delivered against a real brief, with real constraints on space, budget, and the client’s daughter’s preferences.
No two projects here look the same — because no two clients came to us with the same brief.
Some parents want a soft, pastel-toned room for a young girl: gentle colors, a canopy bed, a compact study corner. Others want something more grown-up — a teenager’s room with a defined workspace, a wardrobe that handles a full clothes collection, and a design that feels personal rather than generic. A few projects involved shared rooms where two sisters needed clearly defined zones within one space.
We’ve designed girls’ bedrooms for children as young as four and teenagers up to eighteen. The design priorities shift significantly across that age range. A room built for a seven-year-old needs to be safe, stimulating, and easy to maintain. A room built for a sixteen-year-old needs to feel like her own space — not a room her parents designed for her.
For a full picture of how we approach residential interiors across different room types, see our dining room interior design portfolio — the same attention to proportion, material selection, and client lifestyle goes into every space we design.
Girls’ bedrooms have specific design requirements that generic bedroom briefs don’t capture. Here’s what we actually pay attention to in every project:
Space Planning and Zoning
Most girls’ bedrooms need to serve at least two distinct functions: sleeping and studying. We define zones early, before furniture is selected. A well-zoned room doesn’t need to be large — it needs to be organized so activities don’t conflict.
Bed and Headboard Design
The bed anchors the room. We design or specify beds proportional to the room’s dimensions, with headboard designs that set the tone — upholstered panels for a soft, warm look; paneled wood for a more structured, contemporary scheme.
Wardrobe and Storage
Storage is consistently the most underestimated element in girls’ bedroom briefs. We design full-height wardrobes with internal organization — separate hanging zones, drawer inserts, and shelf configurations — to avoid clutter accumulating within weeks of moving in.
Study Table and Ergonomic Setup
For school-aged girls, a proper study zone is non-negotiable. We position the study table relative to natural light, design shelving above it for books and stationery, and select chair heights that support good posture during long study sessions.
Color Palette and Finishes
Pastel tones — dusty rose, sage green, lavender, warm white — are popular for younger girls. Teenagers often prefer more muted, sophisticated palettes: off-whites, warm greys, terracotta, or deep jewel tones. We consult directly with the client’s daughter where possible — it’s her room, and she should have a say in the color.
Lighting Design
We layer lighting: a primary ceiling fixture, a warm bedside lamp, and task lighting over the study table. Cove ceiling lighting and LED strip accents are increasingly popular in teenage bedroom schemes.
Dressing Area and Mirror Placement
Even in compact rooms, we carve out a functional dressing zone. Mirror placement affects both the room’s perceived size and the practical experience of getting ready — we treat it as a design decision, not an afterthought.
Custom Furniture for Non-Standard Spaces
Dhaka apartments frequently have irregular room dimensions — corners that standard furniture can’t fill, alcoves that waste space, low ceilings that limit options. Custom-built furniture solves these problems directly.
Most bedroom briefs in Bangladesh focus on aesthetics first and function second. We work the other way around.
Before we open a design software, we map the room’s dimensions, window positions, door swings, natural light patterns, and electrical points. We ask about daily routines — when does she wake up, how long does she study, does she share the room, does she have friends over? That information shapes every design decision that follows.
The result is a room that functions correctly from day one. The wardrobe has enough hanging space. The study table gets morning light. The bed placement allows comfortable circulation. The lighting supports both studying and winding down.
We also execute what we design. Our in-house team handles fabrication, installation, and finishing — so the built wardrobe matches the design drawing, the paint finish is clean, and the lighting is wired correctly. There’s no gap between design intent and delivered result.
Our girls bedroom package covers space planning, furniture design or selection (bed, wardrobe, study table, dressing unit), lighting specification, material and finish selection, false ceiling design if applicable, and full execution including fabrication, installation, and painting. We manage the full process.
Compact rooms need smarter decisions rather than smaller furniture. We use full-height wardrobes to take advantage of vertical space, select bed sizes appropriate to the room's actual dimensions, and build study zones into alcoves or corners that would otherwise be unused. Most of our apartment bedroom projects fall in the 90–140 sq ft range — tight, but very workable with the right layout.
For younger girls, soft pastels — dusty rose, mint, lilac, warm cream — remain consistently popular and photograph well in Dhaka's natural light conditions. For teenagers, we're seeing strong demand for more sophisticated palettes: sage green with warm white, terracotta with off-white, or deep teal with natural wood tones. We don't push a single palette — we develop it with the family.
Yes, and we actively recommend designing for adaptability when budget allows. We specify furniture that ages well — wardrobe proportions that remain useful, study tables that can accommodate a laptop and monitor as school demands increase, neutral base colors with accents that can be swapped. The structural elements stay; the personality layer can update.
Most girls bedroom projects complete in 3–5 weeks from confirmed design to handover. Projects involving significant custom furniture or structural work — false ceiling installation, flooring changes — may run to 6–7 weeks. We provide a detailed schedule at project confirmation so the family can plan around the work.
