PORTFOLIO

Bathroom Interior Design Portfolio

Most people think about the bathroom last. But in reality, it is one of the most used rooms in any home — morning and night, every single day.

In Bangladesh, bathrooms face real challenges. High humidity, limited space in apartments, poor ventilation in older buildings, and hard water that damages fittings. A badly designed bathroom becomes a maintenance problem within 2–3 years. A well-designed one lasts for decades and feels good to use every day.

At Unique Interior & Design, we have been completing bathroom interior design projects across Dhaka since 2015. This portfolio shows real completed projects — attached bathrooms in apartments, master bathrooms in duplex homes, and guest washrooms in residences from Mirpur to Gulshan.

Our Bathroom Interior Design Projects in Bangladesh

Every bathroom project we work on starts with the same question: How is this bathroom actually used, and what problems does it have right now?

Some clients come to us with a compact attached bathroom — maybe 30–40 sq ft — and want it to feel cleaner, brighter, and more organized. Others have larger master bathrooms where they want a proper vanity unit, good lighting, and a shower area that feels premium. A few clients are finishing new apartments and want the bathroom designed from scratch before they move in.

We have handled all of these. Small washrooms in mid-rise flats in Mohammadpur. Spacious master bathrooms in Bashundhara and Uttara residences. Guest bathrooms that need to look presentable without taking up more space than they have.

For each project, the design approach is different — but the fundamentals stay the same: waterproofing done right, materials chosen for humidity resistance, ventilation planned properly, and storage designed so the room stays clutter-free.

Key Design Elements We Focus On in Every Bathroom

A bathroom that looks great on day one but starts cracking, staining, or molding by year two is a design failure. Here is what we actually focus on to make sure your bathroom looks good and performs well long-term:

Waterproofing and Moisture Protection
This is the most important and most skipped step in Bangladeshi bathroom projects. Bangladesh’s climate is hot and humid for most of the year. Without proper waterproofing on walls and floors before tile installation, moisture seeps behind tiles within 1–2 years and causes cracking, mold, and wall damage. We specify proper waterproofing treatment on all wet areas before any finishing begins.

Tile Selection — Floor and Wall
Tiles set the look and feel of the entire bathroom. For floors, we use slip-resistant ceramic or porcelain tiles — safety is non-negotiable, especially in a wet room. For walls, large-format tiles (60×60 or 60×120 cm) reduce grout lines and make the space feel bigger and easier to clean. Light tones like off-white, soft grey, and warm beige are popular because they reflect light well and hide hard-water stains better than pure white. For clients who want a more premium look, we use marble-finish porcelain or natural stone-look tiles.

Ventilation Design
Most bathroom problems in Dhaka apartments — mold on walls, persistent dampness, stale air — come from poor ventilation. A properly placed exhaust fan, sized correctly for the room’s cubic volume, combined with a window or duct opening makes a real difference. We plan ventilation as part of the design, not as an afterthought.

Bathroom Vanity and Storage
Most bathrooms don’t have enough storage, so toiletries pile up on the floor or shelf edges. We design vanity units with under-counter storage, wall-mounted mirror cabinets with internal shelves, and recessed wall niches in the shower area for shampoo and soap. These keep the bathroom organized and make it look neat — even when someone is using it every day.

Lighting Setup
Natural light is limited in most Dhaka apartment bathrooms. We use warm LED panel lights for general brightness, backlit mirrors or vanity strip lights for task lighting, and sometimes a small LED strip above or below the vanity cabinet for atmosphere. The goal is a bathroom that feels bright and clean at any time of day.

Sanitary Fittings and Fixtures
We work with trusted brands available in the Bangladesh market — RAK Ceramics, Kohler, TOTO, and locally available quality fittings — and match fixture selection to the client’s budget. Wall-hung commodes and wall-mounted basins are increasingly popular in compact bathrooms because they free up floor space and make cleaning much easier. In smaller bathrooms, this one decision can make the room feel noticeably larger.

Shower Area vs. Bathtub
Most apartment bathrooms in Dhaka use a shower area rather than a bathtub because of space constraints. We design shower areas with a proper gradient (floor slope toward the drain), a frameless glass partition or shower screen, and a linear drain for a cleaner finish. For larger master bathrooms where the client wants a bathtub, we plan the layout to ensure both the tub and shower area work without crowding each other.

Color Palette
Light, neutral tones work best for most Dhaka apartment bathrooms — off-white, soft grey, warm beige, or stone tones. These reflect light, make the space feel bigger, and age well. For clients who want more character, we use a dark feature wall in a contrasting tile — navy, charcoal, or deep green — on one wall while keeping the other three walls light.

Why Good Bathroom Design Matters for Bangladeshi Homes

A well-designed bathroom does more than look nice. It is easier to clean, stays hygienic longer, and causes fewer maintenance problems.

In our experience, the most common issues homeowners face in existing bathrooms in Dhaka come from poor waterproofing, wrong tile choice, inadequate ventilation, and no storage planning. These are all design decisions — not just construction quality problems.

Getting the design right from the start means you spend less on repairs and maintenance in the years after handover. A bathroom that uses moisture-resistant materials, has proper drainage, and is properly waterproofed will still look good 8–10 years later with basic maintenance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our bathroom service covers layout planning, waterproofing specification, tile selection (floor and wall), sanitary fitting selection, vanity and storage design, lighting plan, shower or bathtub area design, mirror and cabinet work, and full installation coordination. We manage the full project from design to handover.

Small bathrooms — which is most attached bathrooms in Dhaka, often 25–45 sq ft — need smart layout decisions more than anything else. Wall-mounted commodes and basins free up floor area. Light-coloured large-format tiles make the space feel bigger. A mirror cabinet above the sink adds storage without taking up floor space. A recessed niche in the shower wall eliminates the need for a separate shelf. These decisions together make a compact bathroom feel well-designed and uncluttered.

Ceramic and porcelain tiles are the most practical choice for Bangladesh's humid climate. They are moisture-resistant, durable, and available in a wide range of finishes and sizes. For floors, always choose tiles with a slip-resistant surface rating — glossy tiles look good but are dangerous when wet. Reliable tile brands available in Bangladesh include RAK Ceramics, Akij Ceramics, DBL, and Great Wall. For a more premium finish, marble-look porcelain tiles give the appearance of natural stone without the high maintenance.

This is very common in Dhaka apartments — inner bathrooms or attached bathrooms that have no direct window access. In these cases, we install a properly sized exhaust fan connected to a duct that vents to an external wall or building shaft. The fan needs to match the bathroom's cubic volume to be effective — an undersized fan in a sealed bathroom will not prevent moisture buildup. We specify this as part of the design, not as a site decision.

Most bathroom projects complete in 2–4 weeks from confirmed design to handover. This includes waterproofing, tile work, fitting installation, vanity and cabinet work, and lighting. Projects with more complex custom vanity units or larger master bathrooms may take up to 5–6 weeks. We provide a written timeline at project start.

Bathroom design cost depends on room size, tile selection, fixture quality, and the extent of custom work. A basic bathroom renovation for a compact attached bathroom starts from a moderate budget. Master bathrooms with custom vanity units, premium tiles, and frameless glass shower areas are at a higher range. We give a clear cost estimate after the site visit — no hidden charges added later.
